Iran says Hormuz reopening plan is in talks; Trump 'not in a hurry'

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says talks with Qatari mediators are under way on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days if the US meets Tehran's conditions. Trump says negotiations are "going fine" but Washington is "not in that much of a hurry", and he renewed his threat to hit Pick Axe Mountain, which the US says hosts a nuclear site. Centcom says it has redirected 144 vessels under its blockade, up from 135 earlier this month.

What X, Reddit and 4chan make of it.

X turned Khamenei's "no geographic limits" order into a war-escalation argument, Reddit debated whether he is even alive and who started this, and 4chan mocked it as another TACO and dragged in the midterms.

Where they split

X split between Iranian-sympathetic defence of the order and mockery of Fox's breaking-news framing, while Reddit mostly fixed on whether Mojtaba Khamenei is alive and on the cost of the war. 4chan's thread was less about Iran's order itself and more about Trump's bluffing, the midterms and a ground invasion.

  • Iran has every right to hit back

Iran is only defending itself against US and Israeli aggression, and its response is a rightful deterrent.
