About

One page a day for everything that happened.

the noise reads the posts of newsrooms and channels as they come in, in whatever language they’re in, and keeps one page for each day: what happened, which story it belongs to, and where every line came from.

01How it’s made

AI writes it. Every few hours, language models (currently Anthropic’s Claude) read what came in since the last pass, file each development under its story, and update the day’s page, changing only what the news changed. After midnight UTC the day closes and becomes its record.

Every line cites the posts it came from, and every story keeps its timeline across the days, so you can check any of it against the source.

02The room

For the day’s top stories, the noise also reads what people on X, Reddit and 4chan make of them, and sorts the takes into camps, quoted in their own words. It shows what a crowd is saying, not what’s true.

03Mistakes

AI gets things wrong: a figure left behind after a newer report, two events run together, a source misread. If you spot one, tell us. A person reads every message and fixes what can be fixed, and each day keeps every version it went through.

04Who’s behind it

the noise is an independent project. It isn’t part of any of the outlets it reads, and it carries no ads.

05What we keep

Visits are counted with Umami, an analytics tool that runs on our own server: no ad trackers, and nothing is sold. For some visits it also records clicks and scrolling, to see how the pages get read.

Sign up for the newsletter and we keep your email address to send it, until you unsubscribe from any issue. Messages sent through the contact form are kept so we can answer them.

06Write to us

Feedback, a correction, a source we should be reading, or business and press: use the contact page or write to hello@thenoise.news. The day’s record also comes as RSS.
