The latest in Israel's October election campaign107 developments
Final polls show Benny Eisenkot's bloc narrowly ahead of Netanyahu's, but neither reaches 61 seats. Netanyahu, who touts Trump's endorsement, suggested Israel and the US may restart the war on Iran if he wins, after reports he pushed for a pre-election strike over army chief Zamir's objection. Security is at 'Level C' with about 20,000 police deployed, and Likud plans to film Arab voters outside polling stations.
Israel votes today in an election that could end Benjamin Netanyahu's long run as prime minister, and the Iran war hangs over it: on the eve of the vote he suggested Israel and the US might restart the fighting if he wins. Tehran, meanwhile, says Washington isn't serious about talks.
Elsewhere, Russia hit Kyiv and energy sites across Ukraine overnight, even as a limited truce began in occupied Oleshky. In Brazil, Lula's win is settling in despite Flávio Bolsonaro's refusal to concede, and in Serbia a student-led movement is preparing to form a government. Anthropic's IPO filing lifted Asian markets.

Called Netanyahu a war-starter clinging to power and corruption cases
Cynical, sardonic, mocking
He must keep Israel in a state of war to stay in power. It's a no brainer situation as to why he's doing it.
Accuse? It's like accusing the toaster of making toast.
More than a bit! His rhetoric over the weekend was positively apocalyptic. He's trying to make people believe Israel will be destroyed if he's not Prime Minister. Mainstream Israelis don't seem to be buying it.

Shrugged at the war talk, tied it to boomer voters and Iran
Crude, dismissive, scattershot
Reddit treated the story as proof of a long-running pattern of Netanyahu fighting to stay out of prison, while 4chan's threads were mostly a sprawl of Iran, Saudi and Brazil news and only touched the Israeli election in passing. X produced no reactions to this story at all.
Netanyahu is stoking conflict with Iran to keep his job and dodge corruption charges, and the pre-election strike talk is more of the same.
Nobody is surprised: of course a politician like this would start a war to win, and the accusation is old news.
The apocalyptic rhetoric and war talk look like desperation from a leader whose internal polling is slipping, and voters aren't buying it.
Talk of war is aimed at older voters who still turn out, a read that treats the campaign as a bid for one demographic.
The story is a shrug, dismissed as a nothingburger or as a wall of noise from threads that have seen it all before.
No X reactions for this story were found in the sample.
Top comments from two threads; some drift into Trump, Musk, Biden pardons and AI art, which were left out as noise.
Thread is a rolling live-update board covering many stories; most posts are about Iran, Saudi, Brazil and Alberta, so on-topic reactions are thin and counts are rough.
