Panama earthquake and tsunami alerts
Two strong earthquakes, magnitudes about 7.7 and 6.6, struck Panama on Friday, followed by more than 100 aftershocks up to M5.8 and a M6.0 early Saturday. The government declared a state of emergency and reported damage in all 10 provinces and two Indigenous territories, with the capital's water plant at about 20% capacity and at least 27 people hurt. No deaths have been officially attributed to the quakes. NOAA warned of tsunami threats for parts of Latin America.
